Some of the events that take place during First Day include the annual boardwalk 5k, which is a race and is for those who are ready to start their fitness goals immediately following First Night (although you can keep a leisurely pace if you aren't looking to win any of the awards that they're giving out). If that doesn't appeal to you, you can try the Beach Polar Plunge, where you don a swimsuit and jump into the freezing waves of the beach, traveling out as far as you dare.
